If the impact doesn't get it and you use HeyYou's method watch out for the hammer rebounding off the ratchet. Hitting yourself in the dome or the boys with a hammer is something you're sure not to forget for a very long time.

well didnt get it done today...we worked....

BUT after work i fixed his car so i took him in the trails, and it was my first time really testing my new T-Case....

Well went to my mud pit that i love, and it was all ice, i started driving on it, and broke through. The ice was literally about 7 inches thick....I bottomed out in the front, the rear, and my reese hitch was embedded into the ice...

Popped her in 4 lo, got a little movement, and then i chipped away some of the ice with a pry bar and hammer....

Got back into the truck and gave her the corn....my buddy was outside the truck and he told me that when i hit the ice (it was a wall that was 7 inches about) my front end hit it, and both tires came off the ground, and with both diffs dragging she ripped right out. It was AWESOME.......

At least i know the t-case is good......but that rippin on the motor to get out kinda of scares me since i know my t-chain needs replacement....

but damn, i didnt know my truck had that much *****.....and ive driven it 20 miles since then and the truck drives perfect so i know i didnt break anything thatnk god.

before adopting that strategy, think about this...

when a malfunction eventually happens, it won't break, but will instead jump a few teeth (also called slip). this will throw it out of time and best case - is that it will run poorly.

worst case is that since our engines are interference designs, it means the pistons will hit the valves and do some serious damage that can include bent valves, bent push rods, and possibly but usually not - piston damage.

timing chain slip will likely not occur until 250-300K miles.
