Default Is it safe to drive?

Error code P0783 on my truck and can't get to shop until monday or Tuesday. Need to see if I can still drive it until then or start walking. Thanks, Mike

its 3-4 shift malfunction i wouldn't drive it too much

how many miles? have you kept up on trans fluid/filter changes? if not, it may be time for a rebuild....our trucks are notorious for bad trannys....iv heard stories of them going before 100K

its ok to drive it.

if you google the P0783, you'll find its a sort of vague code indicating a problem with the 3-4 shift (into Overdrive). also, some reports are that its intermittent, with the CEL coming and going.

it likely is caused by the PCM telling the shift solenoid to shift into OD, and the solenoid failing to make that happen. it might be an electrical problem with the solenoid, or its trying shift, but something ain't moving like it should.

if it makes you feel more secure, just turn OD off.
