Default I Got another one!

Hey guys, iv been realy busy will new job and everything i havent been on forum in a while! well i sold the old 96 bat mobile ha. I just got an 2001 dodge ram 1500 318 5 speed! I love this thing. Its single cab long bed 4x4. It has 300,000 miles on it and i swear it runs mint! Iv been horsin on it to see how strong it is with 300,000 and its solid. Love the 5 speed to! Im finaly done with skool and im working full time so its time to put a good truck togeather! When the engine goes in this i WILL put a 360 in it. I noticed that it has the death flash, theres a software update sticker on computer. I didnt think it had the death flash when i test drove it cause it had great power compared to alot of other rams iv driven. So when its time to do the 360 Im sure ill be posting!!

If your truck is an 01 it came from the factory with the "death flash."

Also, the torque that you are feeling is due to the truck being a manual. Automatic transmissions are known as "slush boxes" for a reason. The torque converter is a viscous coupling, so it won't feel like a good ol' clutch.

I know how you feel. I wouldn't trade the 4-speed NP-435 in my '76 F250 for any auto trans! Gotta love the low end torque feeling!! When I slow down to make a turn, I don't have to ever shift out of 4th, and it's got a 5.9L FE.

I will admit though, towing with an automatic is a much more pleasant experience, in some instances.

If its a 76 f 250 are you sure its not a sm 465 manual trans? Thats what my brothers k5 blazer has and some of my buddies older trucks with manual trans are sm 465s. My truck actualy NEEDS a lockers now, cause it will spin so much in 1st. And yea towing will be a bit more of a handfull but i think towing is easier on a manual trans then on an automatic.

chevys had sm465's. Thankfully dodges and fords had the Np435s. My 72 Power Wagon mud toy has this gloriously bulletproof tractor transmission and i wont ever change it. MAN-uals rule!
