Salt stops working below a certain temperature, i think its like 15 degrees. My guess is that in CO it is so cold salt no longer works. I lived in Michigans UP for awhile where they throw sand because salt and chloride dont work due to the temperature.

yea they use a number of different things out here. The township uses salt out in the "country" areas mainly cause our roads are last on their list. The state uses a mixture of a rock/sand type pre-treatment and im not sure on what exactly they use other than that.

This is what they use around here. Straight from their website.

Anti-icing
- Brine is applied to a dry road before
snow starts falling. This helps to prevent ice from
bonding to the pavement.
Anti-skid

- Crushed limestone or sand is used as an
anti-skid material in addition to salt. The percentage
of anti-skid varies by road type.
Pre-wetting

- Road salt is sprayed with salt brine
to enhance the salt’s melting capability in cold
weather. Pre-wetting lowers the melting point of
salt to make it more effective in lower temperatures.

I'm in the process of doing my rockers, cab corners, floorboards and small cracks on the back of the cab. Good thing I have no other hobbies or my wife would kill me!

I love the spray on undercoating/bedliner for inside the cab and under the fenders.

Magnesium chloride is a salt also. regular salt is probably cheaper, but both are corrosive, but one may be more so thatn others. Any chloride is corrosive. Here in west texas, when there is ice, they use sand. Not effective for melting at all, but sand is prety common here....not much ice and snow either.

yea they use a mixture with either crushed stone or sand to help around here. They call it anti-skid... dont work at all so its pretty much a waste of money

That looks pretty good. I bought a Raptor Liner kit for my bed, but then I got a can of the DupliColor liner for the plastic top pieces for my bumper. They are faded from sun and oxidation and I thought I would give that a try first.

I used the Dupli color bed armor. You can see how well it has held up so far compared to some other brands that fade over a short period of time. The lower part of the bed has been done for some time now and its still holding up well. I just gotta figure out what I am going to do next. Debating on doing part of the front bumper

You sound like you have the problem I have. I started out with this Ram just wanting to fix tranny and use truck just for occasional towing. Then I decided to fix plenum, then paint and body, now e-fan, waiting on HS rockers to come in as well as new carpet. Seems like there is always something else to do, just what to tackle next!
