So try shifting while rolling, not stopped.

Thanks Sheriff....... I'll give that a try the next time out on jeep trails....

It will have to wait until sometimes in the January ..... as we are leaving in a few days for Florida for 4-5 weeks....... It's warmer there than in western Colorado ....

Where in western Colorado are you, if I might ask? I'm in Meeker, myself.

You know you can find a patch of dirt or gravel somewhere and give it a try the next time you drive the truck.

Well howdy, neighbor! If you were instead up this-a-way it'd be easy enough to find some packed snow on which to try shifting on the fly.

I've had lousy luck shifting into 4LO while stationary -- it hangs up a little less than half the time. Just creeping along with the transmission in neutral has worked just fine every time, though every now and then the CAD is slow to engage. I'd rather just have manual hubs and get out when need be to lock them, but shift on-the-fly was the marketing thing to do even if it made no darn sense at all...

I've never had an issue with it other than if I don't shove it far enough. Then it complains.
