Default 1999 Dodge Ram 360ci Issues ..HELP

Welcome everyone im a NEWBIE and my 1999 Dodge Ram is having a weird issue ...

Every now and then the truck will start and wont idle unless i hold my foot on the gas after a few minutes it clears up , but has been doing it more often now .... The odd thing is the Check Engine Light clears when this happends ... I have found that the ais also makes this type of thing happen but whats with teh check engine light clearing .....

The tranny is shot and the codes are tranny sensors , i plan on getting the tranny done soon but this is a new issue that i must get fixed asap ...
The tranny just searchs for 1st gear but i have been driving it this way for almost a year ..... Need help ..

Try cleaning the TB and IAC on back of it. https://dodgeforum.com/forum/dodge-r...n-the-iac.html

And what are the codes you are getting?

Does it idle okay for a brief time, then stumble for a few minutes? And start and run just fine if already warm? If so, that's an oxygen sensor failure (pre-cat sensor). If instead it's flaky right from the start, then it's sounding a lot like the IAC so do as Zman suggests.

weird thing is my wifes Jeep Grand Cherokee did the same exact thing minus the tranny issue .... We took it to the dealer ship and traded ithe jeep in for a new Civic since she has been burning way to much fuel .....but the Ram truck still has the issue ...... It has to be fairly common if both car had the same issue ....

how about replacing the sensor? Sounds like what mine did when the torque converter failed leaving metal bits that caused the trans soleniod errors and the rpms to drop while in gear... it would also sometimes stall at lights..
does yours still stall while in park? If so I would guess tranny issues are truly unrelated.
