I think y'all are right.. I was wrong. Again.. the manifold terminates with a kind of ball looking shouldered pipe, which fits into the collector.. the donuts do the same thing, but use fresh and pliable metal to fill any gaps when you torque them down..

I hate to admit when I'm wrong.. but do when I gotta.. I gotta here..
