I put my truck (bed empty) on the scale at a south Georgia landfill two years ago - normal recovery gear/some gas welding stuff/tools in the toolbox, cab pretty much empty. Now keep in mind I've got an IFS truck which means no axles to build a lift off of and I went with a kit with a full sub-frame as opposed to a single or dual crossmember. Weight with me in it (and I was close to 300 lbs at that time) was 7130 lbs... Or basically heavier than a SFA 2500 MegaCab comes stock.
I can't b*tch, I get between 12.7 and 13.1 in over-all use every time I clock it and can still hit 16 on the interstate with an empty bed despite 35" tires. By comparison my RCSB 4x4 2nd Gen (5.9) with 35s and I'm guessing somewhere around 1500 lbs less weight got about 9 overall and if I kept it under 70 mph I might just eek out 12 mpg, but usually high 11s on trips...
