Default Ridiculous shipping at RockAuto.com

I have used RockAuto.com for one or two part orders, but never a large order. So I finally get done selecting all the parts I need and adding the parts in the cart. And I was careful to select items that "would be shipping from the same location" or so I thought. Input my zip code and boom! Shipping charges from 6 different locations!! OMG are you kidding me! So here I am trying to save money by using RockAuto and I get hit with $60 in shipping charges. I might as well go to the parts store two miles from my house and spend just as much, or maybe less. Very decieving if you ask me! Anyway, I just wanted to vent.

I hate when online retailers do that. Sportsman Guide is notorious for that. Cheap prices but you more than make up for it with draconian shipping "and handling" fees.

(Moved-just noticed)I used Rock Auto for 2 minor items for my Ram, but have since found everything cheaper locally when shipping is taken in consideration. I don't blame RA for this, though. Shipping costs have risen drastically. RA can only absorb so much of the shipping costs before they lose money. Local parts stores get large, bulk deliveries, so their shipping costs are like 1/4 what RA (and thus you) have to pay.

I just purchased several items for my Mazda, both yesterday and today. Always remember to check the Rock Auto disc. code. I still came out ahead versus buying local.

rockauto gave me a crazy shipping charge one time, so i just called them. they clicked around on the computer and cut it down to a normal amount. and they were very nice. just call them.

Not to mention, locally probably means DuraCrap. At least at RA, you can choose your flavor.

the 5% discount is laughable. that barely covers tax.

Not when you factor in the lower prices for brand name parts to begin with.
