I have not seen an OEM CB radio in ages! My 88 Jag has OEM stereo unit with CB Channel 19 (receiver only).

I have an OEM 1970 Cadillac AM/FM/8 track/23 channel in dash radio.

When I got it, it did not have a mic at all. Without the mic you could not adjust the volume or squelch on the radio. And of course you could not transmit with it. You could listen at a muted volume but only to channel 19.

It took a lot of trips to hamfests to find what I needed.

Most of the controls for the CB are built into the mic. The radio and tape work fine. The CB never was the best but it does still work probably as well as it ever did.

I wish i knew what you guys were talkin about haha. But since i'm getting a new job, i'll probably just go to a Pilot and get one of those Cobra cb radios and try to find a nice antenna. I don't need a big and powerful one, i just need one for a few miles or so.

You might look around at your neighborhood yard sales. The chances are you will find a whole CB setup that will most likely work just fine for under $20.00.

I'm visiting my sister and brother in law in Tennessee just now. Last Saturday I walked down the block and a family had several CB's and a hand full of antennas.

I bought a Cobra 139XLR base station and a K-40 mobile whip for $15.00 and they threw in a Cobra 19 free. Granted the 19 looks like someone has run it over a little bit and is missing the mic, but it still works.

I know a fellow back home who will give me $100.00 for the base working or not. It happens that this one does work. I don't know for sure but I suspect that someone has opened it up and it does a lot more than 40 channels.

There is a 5 position switch on the back that more than likely access “them extreey channels thar” don'cha'know.

Since I don't have any test gear with me I really don't know. I just tested it for transmit using the 19 for receive then put the mic on the 19 and tested XLR for receive.

Is there any ID to the Macho ? I bought one from a guy but its 100% covered in Linex liner so kinda ruined it. In a couple spots the red still bleeds through from thin coating of liner. Its a 79. Basically just the paint job was it right or is there something else ? i dont know alot about them, this one is all redone complete sheet metal. He got a hair and decided to Linex the whole truck even the inside and back of all the new pannels. BTW i searched Macho and found your post lol.back on topic cool radios im a dump trucker so everything has a CB lol. Some of the old radios are worth something to guys who dig old radios. My first was an old 23 channel Midland from like the 70,s.
