Putting a tick mark on the pintle while driving isn't that dangerous.. lining that tick mark to the needle afterward was my suggestion.

You'll have to search on Google, but there is a combination (like holding trip reset button and cycling keys three times? Don't quite remember), and the computer will test the gauges. They go from off through four different positions. If you can find out what those exact positions are, maybe somebody on here can do it and record their positions and relay them to you. Then you just test (they all move simultaneously) , eyeball where its setting at, pull off, move a hair, reposition, and just keep checking until each gauge is "calibrated". EVERYTHING will be off. Fuel, volts, temp, everything. This is the way I've done mine in the past. If you can't find the preset positions on Google, ill try to help after I'm off work...

I just did mine on the speedo take the needle off start the truck while idleing put the needle back on at zero that will get you there. My truck idles at 650 700 so with the truck idling I put it on at that mark. With the truck running put on voltage guage and then set needle to that mark. oil pressure I set with engine idleing but cold set to a little over 40 were mine idles cold the gas is a b&^%h I just ran mine out put in 20 bux then let the low fuel light come on then set needle at a 8th of a tank

Drive it like you stole it. The Model T didn't have any gauges, right?
