It started back in the beginning of Federalization of the auto industry. They had to meet a specific model year's safety and pollution standards and still get the cars to the dealers by the calender year-January 1,19XX. In the old days, it would take sometimes 2 months to transport the vehicles to the different dealers. So they had to get the production started at least 3 months prior to actual customer delivery. Since then manufacturers still make early models as a one-up-man ship. "Come in and look at our 2013 models while our competitors are still selling last year's cars". If I remember right, the Feds have a specific date they can start calling them the next year's models...maybe July 1st . I can't recall. But the point is all car manufacturers usually start the new model year around July/August.

looks like a great truck for its age. where i live some vehicles start looking unsafe to be on the road after they are about 15 years old.
On the other hand, in western Washington most 2nd gen Rams are still really nice trucks.

Its a dana 60 rear with a LSD and 4.10's if im reading that right.. I could be wrong though

So was it common for the 2wd to have a LSD?
