Best and last year for the 12 valve. Next came the 24 valve, which has way too many problems.
I'd take a '96 - '98 though. They have more horsepower and torque than the '94 and '95 12 valves and they're just an all around bulletproof powertrain, especially with the nv4500.
Very easy and cheap to make her twice as powerful without having to touch the drivetrain all that much.
