Plus if lastrights is on a budget, the crown vic should be more readily available at a cheaper price.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner!

They can be had for cheap at a police auction. I would look for something that was used by a supervisor of a State agency. How to tell? Those are the cars that are a solid color, never had wig-wags & other equipment installed. The State cars are meticulously maintained.

Worst case, scope out Craigslist to see what's available. Then, head over to http://www.crownvic.net/ubbthreads/u...s.php?ubb=cfrm for some basic research.

blah, delete the EGR on the jetta and it would run forever problem free...diesels do not suffer the same wear and tare issues that gasolines suffer.

they literally just keep on chuggin away. sure brake jobs might cost more because rotors have to be replaced with pads, but that's a small cost and if you know how to drive you don't replace your brakes that often anyway.

my jetta was always cheap and easy to maintain and I had a 2002! those heated leather seats were much nicer in that thing than they are in my dodge... dodge only has low and high settings...jetta has 5 settings for heat lol.

I miss my jetta (it got rear ended by a ford exploder doing 40mph while I was at a dead stop at a red light. totaled.)

now they aren't built like a cummins...they can't take much in the power upgrade department before needing new connecting rods, head studs, main studs, etc.. but you keep em mostly stock they just run forever.

For a cheap good on gas car, I would look into a Honda. Run forever and are very efficient. The biggest pain in the *** thing with any Honda is they like to eat wheel bearings. Wife has an 04 Accord, plenty of room, great car.

After I pay this truck off, I'm going to get a SRT-4, not sure if it will be the neon or the caliber. I'm Dodge for life. If I can afford it I would love the SRT-8 challenger...

I drove a friends caliber srt-4.. thing was so nasty and fast.. had been on the dyno and put down 308 to the wheels with only 8lbs of boost..he had a bad boost leak when he dynoed. It was usually running around 25 lbs so it was close to 400.. The bad is I drove it one night and it never ran right after... lol I couldnt get used to the whole not letting off the gas while shifting ... He sold it for 17k and bought a 2013 Mustang GT... I got to drive that one and needless to say I was pretty impressed by the power of it and speed

I know a guy who just bought a Caliber SRT4, haven't ridden in it yet, but he also had a Civic with a race engine in it...that thing was fast. The SRT4 is faster, spins the *larger* tires soo much easier than the Civic. When I last talked to him, he said that he had already been up to 130. And still getting 25 mpg.

Indeed fast. It's the fastest inline 4 that dodge ever made. With a reprogrammed PCM, and the rest stock, should be able to do upwards of 400 hp. Bad thing is FWD, not AWD. Off the line they are slow but from a roll can hang with sports cars 3 times its price. Still a 14 second stock car off the production line. Plus it's dodge baby!!!
