2006 seats in 1996?
the paint chipping may not have anything to do with no primer. things in general may not have been done right. i know my 81 is a great example of how easy it is to mess up a paint job even with primer. there is paint over paint and primer but it still manages to peal.
the biggest problem i found with the seats is the brackets. i was gonna do this but just couldnt really make it work. i didnt put alot of effort into coming up with a fix for the brackets. im sure it could be done with some creativity and patience. i just didnt see the benefit in the long haul. didnt trust my skills to make the brackets functional and strong enough.
I don't know if you've checked into it, but if you take your old seats to a furniture upholsterer, they can usually make them like new, including restringing saggy seats for 1/4 what auto upholsterers will, usually. For whatever reason, auto upholsterers think they are worth their weight in platinum, while furniture guys are usually much more reasonable. So, if you can't or don't want to use the 06 seats, at least check reupholstering.
well like i said i want to swap the 06 seats to some racing seats with harnesses and all and slap a bottle in between the seats in a custom plexi box, then the 06 seats will be no longer used and the 96 seats are horrid! plus the 06 seats are more comfortable and ill have the bottom seat storage as well which is a plus. itll be done, just gotta get the racing seats, guy sold them before i could get my girlfriend to go get them.
