^^^ Spring spacers should not be used with any lift coil, that's a no no. You can do a 10-12 inch lift for around $2000 if you can fab. Need to also get longer brake lines, e brake cable, modded trany crossmember, longer front DS, and lot's of other little parts. You can also look at going coil-over for the front but that is not a cheap route at all, tag on another $1000 to the bill at least. I have started collecting parts for such a lift, but it will be a month or two before it's ready for install.

Edit: I know nothing of their rep but have a look. http://www.alteregocustoms.com/DodgeSuspension.html

I know a few people with 12"+ lifts who use 2-3" spacers on their trucks w/o problem. One of them being a 2nd gen ram. Of course they're not rock crawling or flexing, otherwise the spacers can fall out. 10" whiplash springs or custom made springs would be better, but more expensive.

Those alter ego lifts are expensive as hell. As you said it only costs a little over 2 grand to piece a big lift together and make some of your own parts. Then another 3 grand or so for built axles, tires, wheels, some hood stacks, a snorkel, etc.

a full custom suspension is easy to fab up and then just get custom coils or coilovers and after all said and done you only spend 2-3 grand.

instead of piecing together a bunch of cheap lifts that can only be used on the street of light trails

His paint looks like it is mostly orange peel. I have a red truck, well red-ish, and have no paint problems. just a lot of rust

You've got metallic red and it looks factory. So, of course you wouldn't have issues.
