Adding to what crazzywolfie said: I ran mine without the relays for more than two years without a glitch. I just added the relays this week. They make a very perceptible difference, well worth doing. The relays cost less than either the headlight switch or the multifunction switch, so it's worth doing even if the light output didn't change at all.

Not even close! The worst I've seen for deer in Colorado was 491 coming north out of Cortez. Of course I was dumb enough to leave Cortez just before dawn... down along the canyon bottoms there for a good long stretch I didn't manage to go a quarter mile without stomping the brake pedal. I was really surprised to get through there without kissing Bambi.

Ever run US 550 going south from Ouray to Silverton? That's a fun one. Not so much for animals, but because it's high, steep, twisty, narrow, and there are spots where there are no guard rails between you and a long drop to a sudden stop. It really freaks out passengers who can't see anything to the right except air.

But I seem to have wandered off topic...

Haha not a problem. Maybe in my short lifetime that's just on my list of most dangerous. But thank's for all the info, I'll keep you all posted as I progress with this!

It's not entirely unheard of. Sometimes the switch just goes, other times the wiring is overheated by a failing switch before the switch completely fails.

Bulbs came today, but mother nature decided to drop around 6" of snow here, so I didn't get the chance to replace them yet. I'll keep updating if I get the chance tomorrow.
