Default Oil pressure question

Put a WIX filter instead of the Mopar ones I had been using, and I was used to the oil pressure going up and down with engine speed. Now my pressure is holding pretty steady at about 55 psi. Should I be worried about this ? Or is it just a product of the fresh oil and backflow prevention of the new filter.

The consensus is the stock oil gauge is pretty crappy and not too reliable. If you double checked pressure, you should be good. Could be the new oil taking a bit to warm up and flow better? I know my gauge reads higher first at start up then after operating temp it settles down to a steady reading.

I think I'll drag out the old mech. gauge from my rodding days and hook it up tomorrow. When I first got the dodge I thought it was weird that it would go up and down with the RPMs but now I'm worried its not. LOL

Recently I notice the oil pressure taking a little longer than usual to raise after start up.
I was concerned that my beauty wasn't getting lube quick enough.
Put a manual gauge on it it, and saw that it did raise quickly as would be expected.

It's like like my Naval Fleet Air Arm days... if there's a questionable gauge reading, first check the gauge, then the sensor, wiring, and anything else, as the mechanics of it are usually the last thing at fault.
Funny thing is, they always taught the pilots to trust their instrumentation.

The pressure going up and with engine speed is normal. But as stated, the gauge and sending unit suck. Put the mechanical on it and verify.
