Entirely possible that I was missing something but I did not see how a 97 can swap the seats "with just 4 bolts" due to the seat back adjustment lever. I stitched mine up with some heavy thread and then shopped around and ultimately went with Head Waters Seat Covers. There are cheaper covers but because I didnt want to have sloppy one size fits all seat covers I went with these and have been very pleased. Customer service was great and they fit like a glove and still look like they did the day I installed them. And they were the only ones I could find that covered the middle seat and kept the storage in the seat back able to open.

headwatersseatcovers.com if you are interested.

I'm thinking its just bolts holding the bottom seat cushion to the frame. The frame and adjustment levers probably stay in the same spot. I'll check it out tomorrow after this storm blows through.

I swapped my seat cushions today, pics in What Did You Do To Your Ram thread.

It's really just 4 10mm bolts that hold down the seat cushion. Simple swap.

I'd swap it and sew up old driver's one, or if it's too far gone then go hunting in the JY.

The ripping and deterioration is easily prevented if you get in the truck and readjust yourself without graunching your **** into the seat. For getting out, I always stick my hand on the sill plate / rocker panel and pivot on that point to flip myself out. might look funny but saves me from having to worry about this

I saw your post and it looks great, would have been perfect for me since I pretty much always drive alone but I also see that you have an 01 and the OP and I have 97s with different seats.

So I am still waiting for a guy with a 97 to pull it off easily before I really feel dumb

Problem with tan fabric is the OEM no longer makes this fabric. It is extinct. If your shop tells you they can match, double check. To look correct, it may require recovering all the seats.....for big $!

The other problem is that it is not just the fabric. The root cause is the foam at the edge of the seat lacks the density for proper support. I was able to locate a new factory reeplacement seat back on e-bay. I shipped it to NY and the shop cut to fit and replaced the foam with a more firm foam on the outdie section. Details in a thread I posted in the gen discussion section (just too tired to look for it...)

Area JYs only had the grey fabric in the trucks in the yards.....

I'll be waiting, I had my seats out when I cleaned my interior after I soaked my carpet and atleast on the regular cab I never could figure out how it would work. 4 bolts from the bottom of each seat got me the seat off the floor... then 4 bolts got me the seat off the frame but the back and pan came off in one piece, so if you do get it please add a pic so I can see if the seats are the same, these 01 guys make it sound so easy I am jealous. I have one seat with 161k and the other probably has about 4k with someone actually sitting on it.

Won't work on an 97. The seat back adjustment is part of the seat. And I could not see anywhere to just remove the seat cushion. It's integrated with the track. I'm sure you could swap the whole seat over but the the levers for seat back adjustment would be on the wrong sides. Bummer.
