if you want a rumble, try a super 40, still loud but half as raspy more smooth sounding...youre gona get the poppy sound with a 44 no matter what you do when you take the cat off.

mine is a 5.2.....its manifold back true duals no cats to super 44s, 2.25" at the manifold and 2.5 back to the tips.

'01 5.2L, stock piping, gutted cat, FM 44. I have since gotten rid of the FM. Too much drone. Went with a Thrush Turbo. Has basically the same sound but not as loud and minimal drone.

I honestly don't mind my Super 10 on my 5.2, although mine isn't near as raspy as yours but cracks from 2,000-2,500 and 3,500-4,000. All the rest of the rpm is a pretty nice, deep rumble.

I can't get rid of my cat, stupid inspections and emmisions here in pa. Guess it would be louder without my cat on and true duels...

Honestly you don't want to do that. Vehicles without cats stink really bad. My daughters first car had the cats removed (unbeknownst to her) and that thing stunk so bad she could not start it in the garage. And even though it was a 94 and did not need emissions inspection, it still failed for missing the emissions equipment (they do a visual). My opinion anyway. I'm not a tree hugger either.
