if you want a fair comparison, you gotta compare it to mine

perhaps even compare to mine after I change out my 7x.010s for 7x.011 injectors which will likely put me just under 600/1200 @ the rears on a dyno.

once I get my pushrods and 110# valve springs in, then I can tighten the gate on my S357 to allow higher boost from the twins.

see, the thing about that is two fold:

1. I can dump $2k in the 6.4.. delete DPF, tune, 4~5" exhaust downpipe back, and be sitting near 600 to the terra, more torque than I'll ever need.. another $2k and install studs, wastegate, egr delete- and safely lay closing in on 800 to terra.. ungodly.. but, unreliable at that level.. I don't want that..

2. i DO want a reliable truck capable of doing what i need it to do.. i'll be tugging a 9k# boat in the spring to the launch and back.. this thing won't break a sweat.. i'll be pulling a likely 4k# trailer to UP michigan and back in decemeber, with no sweat.. instead of paying a shipment company big $$ to tow a sensor system to pendleton from lejeune in early december, i may opt to tow it myself.. thats near 4k miles round trip if not more.. it'll do it with no sweat at all.. and that's what I'm aiming for..

i say all of this, but you guys know me.. I'll likely have the thing lifted on 37's by this time next year... suncoast trans... bigger intercoolers.. ect.. $5k more into it, and one bad **** rig... and I'll likely be single again if I do..

Very nice truck. I'd vote no cap unless you need it!

all I see is ford ford ford
can do the same with the cummins. difference though is the ol cummins is paid for

and like you said over 600hp is not reliable for a DD, that's why I am intentionally keeping her under 600hp...getting her to 1000hp ain't hard at all. but its not streetable or even remotely reliable either. over 600hp becomes a trailer queen. 95% of the time I drive at the 400hp level (375 is as low as I can go with my injectors), and when I need the power, 1 push of a button instantly pushes it to ~550hp.

still say you shoulda got a cummins though lol sooo much easier to work on. so much space to work on it even!

either way nice truck! hope she treats you good

I hear ya, dude.. don't get me wrong, if there had been a 25/3500 megacab, circa nlt '06, I'd have been all over it!!!

Ford has been good to me in the past.. I'm hoping they will continue.. at least its not a duracrap..

Sweet Mary mother of God..

I just sold the dodge for asking price.. that is good.. but this weird something happens:

The epa argument with several of the diesel tuning companies just went bezerk this morning.. all tuners from two major companies sales have been suspended.. w/o the tuner, and having to maintain several of the thingies that kill economy, I simply made a lateral move getting the ford..

I ordered the tuner and new exhaust Friday.. a complete package.. looks like I'll be one of the last in the country to get it all new.. wow, huh? Another curious thing too: there are suggestions that big brother is requesting customer info too.. they wanna know who's vehicle to inspect so they don't waste time pulling all diesels over and inspecting them..

The fine is so astronomical that it likely isn't worth dicking with.. I think I'll sit on the tuner package for a while to see how this pans out..
