Tips for better gas milage
So where in NE Georgia are you?
As you to your topic, which has been covered over and over again, there really isn't a lot you can do to truly improve your mpgs. What do you think or know you're averaging now?
If you've already fixed your plenum and addressed the front O2 Sensor and Catalytic Converter good, if not start there.
Some people report better mpgs with an SCT Tune, if you can keep your foot out of it.

Because it's a truck. A 5000+ lb truck. A 1990's technology truck. They are not built for gas mileage. They are built to do truck stuff. Which uses a lot of gas. There are some good suggestions sprinkled in, that's about all you can do. Besides selling it and getting a prius.
explane the SCT tune never heard of it. and im grown up past the foot in the firewall stage, all i want is the best gas milage i can get.not sure on the milage now, havnt been able to aford to fill it up yet. but it seems to be doing better sence the new coil, cap and rotor for sure.
With as much as you complain about the electronics on your truck, I'm thinking you ought to sell the thing and pick up something of no later than the 1980 model year.
Buying a truck for great gas mileage is like drinking near beer. It's a waste of time and defeats the purpose.
Trucks are for hauling cargo and do a damn fine job of it.
Motor Trend did a 3000 mile test of the Ecoboost F150 and never got better than 15 mpg without a load. So, even with 2012 technology trucks ain't gonna get great mileage. The only way to get decent mileage is to drive VERY, VERY slowly. Unless you're semi-retired like me, it is totally impractical. Here's how I get 19 and sometimes 20 mpg with my 2nd gen: NEVER drive over 50 mph and try to keep it at 45 mph. NEVER speed up to 45-50 mph in less than 30 seconds. Avoid city driving and keep it on open highways-like the desert highways here in SE Arizona. Now, if you can do those 3 things, you too can get 19-20 mpg.
I let everyone pass me and wait until I have no chance of slowing someone down when I pull out. We have wide open roads and 90% are passing zones. I often hit the shoulder to let the productive members of society get where they need to go.
