Default Can I Haul a Loaded Toolbox 800+ Miles?

I'm almost certain this has been covered but my phone is real slow at loading DF threads and its taking forever to Sort through it all.

Anyways, I'm looking to pick up a used snap on krl7003 (older version of their krl7023) toolbox for $2500 or so. I know the box weighs about 800lbs empty and I was wondering approximate weight when it's somewhat filled with tools, and if that would be a safe amount to carry in the bed of the truck for an 800+ mile trip.

As you can see in my sig I got a 4x4 rcsb 1500, what's the amount I can safely haul long distance in the bed? I've seen some say 1000# max and others say they've carried 2000 or more...just wanting some clarification.

According to this the axle capacity is 3900 lbs. Barring condition of leaf springs (bottom out) it would seem you have margin.

I'm no regular hauler so I'm not entirely in these circles. Seems 1 ton hauling shouldn't be an issue, also presuming transmission and other drivetrain is in average condition.

You can safely haul about 1300# in the bed. It will squat like a sumo wrestler on a diving board, but it won't endanger your suspension or axle. I haul a $#!t load more than that-2500#, but have beefed up the suspension and drive very slowly so as not to overheat the diff.

Get the load as far forward as possible and you 'll be fine.

The only problem I see, is the loading and unloading.

Haha, this is how I've unloaded a 700lb tool box once.

1. Park truck under tree
2. Tie long rope around tool box.
3. Throw rope over stout tree limb (oak tree preferred)
4. Tie other end of rope to your buddy's jeep bumper
5. Have buddy back jeep up till tool box is in the air
6. Drive truck out from under tool box
7. Have buddy drive forward til tool box is on the ground.
8. Now figure out how to get it in the shop.
9. Tie rope to tool box and bumper again, leaving the tree limb out of the equation this time, pull tool box out of grass, onto concrete where you can now roll it.

Not the safest way but it worked.
