relays will make a huge difference. i think one of the biggest week points that cause the stock headlights to be dimmer are the stock 20 gauge ground wire to the headlights. i know when i have upgraded the headlight wiring on my trucks i used 12 gauge wire everywhere and ran ground wires straight to the battery to make sure the lights are as bright as possible.
