Default Advice on shocks.

I would post in the FAQ section, but no one uses that anymore.

My driver's front shock is just about dead, internal seal leak. Currently I have Monroe Reflex and they ride okay, but I've been looking at the Gas-Magnum. Anybody have input on the Gas-Magnums? They have more travel so I think they might be better for off roading too.

I also need a steering damper, anybody ever used the Monroe damper?

Thoughts are welcome.

...OR -- You could search on the words "SHOCKS" and have at the many threads that have discussed the matter over the years and then continue the discussion in the most appropriate one.

I had shocks off a 3rd gen 2500 on my truck.. If I was to do it again I would use them.

I've used Monroe Gas Magnums for years on every truck I've owned. I have them on my current truck, and the thing rides awesome for a 2500.

Me too. Gas Magnums all around and I'm very happy with the ride and handling. The steering stabilizer is KYB from Advance auto and it's worked pretty well with the 305's I had on. We'll see how it does with the 35's.

Cool. I figured they'd be good considering how heavy the 4x4's are.

What about on an 02 1500? It's lighter. I am thinking Reflex's.

The gas magnums get my vote. Doesn't matter if the vehicle is lighter or not. They are made for that particular vehicle.
