Default HOWDY, new guy on the block with a new for me

1999 1500 4X4 with the 5.1L and 127,000 miles.

Just bought it and was wondering if there is some way of figuring what "package" it is? Nothing on the body except the "Ram 1500 V8 magnum "

The windows and seat are manual. No tachometer.

None of the books with the vehicle indicate what it is.

ALSO wondering what to look out for or expect as the miles roll on.

Looks like a lot of good info here.

thanks

First of all, you have the 5.2l 318 engine to figure out what options your ram came with from factory, you can request a build sheet from dodge. I believe there are instructions somewhere on here, just search "build sheet" on this forum...if the windows are manual and there's no tach, i'm guessing its just the regular "base" model. And you can expect that the plenum gasket will blow if it hasnt already...meaning loss of power, misfire on cylinder 8, fouled o2 sensors, clogged cat, etc. The design of the plenum was defective from the factory...the transmissions are weak as well, turn overdrive off when driving around town or towing/hauling

Welcome to DF
Make sure to read the rules and scan through the FAQ/DIY section at the top of the forum.

Here's the build sheet which is in the DIY section.

You have the ST (standard trim) model. Manual windows, locks, trans, vinyl floors, vinyl seats, etc. were standard on ST. Mine was ordered with options such as: rear slider, cloth seats, AC, full gauges, cruise, tilt, and tow package.

If you need any maintenance tips on the 318/5spd let me know. I've had mine for 12 years.

Please read the plenum sticky. You'll want to address that asap. Welcome to DF.
