I want to quiet down my exhaust. If it where a show car I wouldn't mind the throaty tone but I spend a good amount of time in this truck and would prefer to not go deaf.

So school me on mufflers. Should I look for aftermarket or a stock replacement? Chambered or turbo style? I'll be replacing the Cat at the same time so a cat back system could go in relatively simply. Any suggestions?

 

Stock = quiet.

 

Check out the muffler I have, the cherry bomb vortex. Its freaking quiet and flows so well. Flows almost as well as a 3" straight pipe or so their website says. No droning, and nice and quiet until you floor it Lots of cat back systems to.
