I was looking to buy a cold air intake for my 2001 dodge ram 1500 4x4, but cant decide between a k&n and volant intake. Which is better?

 

Neither. Put the money toward a tuner

If you really want one get the Volant but get the ram air tube to go with it, otherwise save your money and just get a K&N drop in filter and keep the stock set up.

 

I have the K&N but i bought it before I was an educated member of this forum ...save the $250 and put it towards a new intake manifold! A drop in K&N filter in the factory box will suffice

 

Try doing a search bud. This very same same topic has been gone over at least a 1000 times.Thanks . A Volant is better, because it draws air from the factory location(passenger side fender well) plus has the option to add a tube to draw air from the front of the truck. A K&N just draws hot air from under the hood, plain and simple. Of course, the OEM air intake with a K&N drop in is just as good or better than a K&N CAI. Bottom line, dont waste your money, save it to fix your plenum.

 

omg...another cai question......keep the stock setup...or a drop in filter as has been posted. Buy a cheap ebay one if your only after the sound.

 

With the K&N CAI, if you trim (or remove) the rubber baffle next to the radiator, it draws (or gets fed at speed) from the grill.

But the others are correct... the additional money is better spent on other mods (Hemifever tuner is the best bang for the buck).
