My 98 dodge ram 2500 5.9L 4x4
Hi, everone, I have here a 1998 dodge ram 4x4 5.9L a518 automatic transmission standard cab truck. I have the transmission all of a sudden lose all power and stop dead on me. I checked the fluid and it was burnt a brownish red color and smelled bunt as well.
I removed the transmission and torque converter and got a master rebuild hit and new torque converter and rebuilt it end to end, reinstalled in the truck and added fluid and did a leak check as it was idling and found nothing leaking, so did a jack up of rear end and did a test of all gears and they all worked and shifted as it should. took a little road test out the road and got maybe 4 miles and it just seemed to lose all power and stopped. I would get first gear good but would shortly loose everything and like it goes into neutral and coast to a stop. Reverse would work for a short distance then also fade away. Any ideas to what to check for and look at to help me solve this issue. ?????? I did also before tranny went bad replaced the selinoids on the valve body, speed senor on the rearend, 4x4 shift selinoid, and also neutral safety switch.
This now has me perplected and confussed as to what is wrong.
