Lift kit question
Ok so I'm fairly engine savvy but I need help when it comes to suspension. I have the off road package on my 2001 1500 sport and about 4 months ago I upgraded to 35's. It has a 3" body lift on it and no suspension other than the factory lift from the off road package. My tires rub on one of the top bars running back from above the u joint (not sure what the name is) and the rubbing is really bad when in 4x4. My questions are would a lift kit fix this and how much of one? I'm looking at 3 and 4.5 inch lifts so I'm wondering what else needs to be replaced when doing this. Also, since it's the off road package how dies that affect the lift? The lifts say exc off road but I've read they can work they just lose an inch. Can anyone verify this and help with the other questions?
Control arm is what it is rubbin on. No a lift kit will not fix this, think wheel backspacing/offset. Any 2nd gen lift-kit will work just take 2" out of the kits est lift height, so a five inch kit will only lift your truck 3" over the ore stock height.
Edit; DOR (Dodge off road) offers some bent short upper and lower control arms that would also work.

I can only assume you are still running stock rims. Taller tires are usually wider, causing the rubbing on the control arm. Get rims with less backspacing or wheel spacers.
