The Official 2014 2nd Gen RAM Forum OT thread
Not kind to the crash test dummies knees from what I remember.
Side impact protection wasn't great either.
But I remember seeing a rail video of a RAM being hit by a train... I remember thinking that it remained in pretty good shape considering... but had there been occupants, they likely would not have survived the G's of impact.

They did poorly in the tests like spillage said, but TBH there are accidents those tests don't cover. Like hitting a big deer at 55MPH in the door. Everyone who saw that (including a couple of body shops) said it would have ripped the door off in any other truck of the same year... I trust the simple sturdiness of the RAM to protect me.
Also, some simple rules help too but many accidents are just that, accidents. Totally unavoidable.

I bought my Second Gen (1997) based of reviews that it had more stars than either Ford or Chevy.
Anything hit by a train isn't going to fare well depending on the speed of the train.
Either way, the [all inclusive] statement that "today's vehicles are better" is false.

I'm not saying ALL new vehicles are better. but if you take the overall state of crash safety in New vehicles it is way better than older vehicles.
You cant directly compare new standards to the old standards either.
I tried to find a full safety report but the only test I could find is the one in the vid stewie just showed.
Newer rams are rated much better and they have to do a rollover test. still haven't found a side test.
I did some research at the IIHS and couldn't find anything earlier than 1998. As I said, when I was researching trucks, the Dodge outperformed Ford and Chevy.
Honestly, this is my favorite vehicle to show people who claim cars "used to be made of *real metal*".
If I'm in a wreck, I want that car to deform and crumple and disintegrate in every way possible so I [and my passengers] can walk away. I won't lose sleep over it not able to be repaired.
