Angry 2001 Dodge 3.9 V6 caught on fire / possible part out?

Excuse me please if this not the correct place to post this ad. But this is the first forum I have ever ran across that did not have a for sale section.

This truck caught on fire today when I was checking the fuel pressure. There was nothing wrong with it, I just couldn't get the fuel pressure gauge to work on one of my Chevy cars. To test the gauge, I tried it on the Dodge. The gauge leaked on to something and caught on fire. By the time I got the fire put out, it was too far gone to even consider trying to get this truck to run again. My dad bought this truck new in 2001 and it has been in the family ever since.

It has all new stainless steel brake lines and all new back brake parts. And the transmission was a rebuilt replacement purchased from AutoZone about 3 years / 30k miles ago. The transmission worked perfect. I may save the trans for a 4wd I found on Craigslist. But I don't know if the trans can swap from a 2wd to 4wd?

I don't know what to do with it? I just thought I would share my sadness on the forum.

I am located near Cincinnati, Ohio. If anyone is local, PM if you are interested in some cheap parts!

Sorry to see that happen. Hope everyone was ok.

This is the link to the classifieds here:
Dodge Classifieds

I think you have to have 25 posts before you can post in it though... (maybe I'm thinking of the wrong forum?)

Thanks for the reply. It looks like the 1997 4wd I was thinking of buying has a 46RE and my 2001 V6 has the 42RE. The 42RE does not have the torque capacity that the 46RE has.

I guess there is really nothing to salvage out of my burned up truck :-(

nothing to salvage for yourself but how is cab interior and back? you can also salvage the trans and rear if you have a place to dismantle and sell those on craigslist

Post it on Craigslist for parts. Pretty much anything from the firewall to the front bumper is toast and not worth salvaging.

What dash color?

Is the park brake release handle available?

If a part out is going to be done, do it through PM's please as the OP does not have enough posts to list in the classifieds section. Thanks.
