As someone who just got out of pro-detailing I would advise against wet sanding unless absolutely necessary. Leave as much clear on as possible. A good compound with machine polish does wonders. Yes clean the crap out of the truck, including the engine compartment. It makes repairs nicer and looks good.

 

Thanks for all your input. I've been working hard to pull dents and clean it up the best I can. The car show is this weekend, Ill make sure to take some photos of it and post them!

 

Nice, I always appreciated the kids who would bring nice clean daily drivers to stuff like that. It was either daddy/mommy nice car or the wanna be rednecks and there straight piped piece of $#!t truck otherwise.

 

Well, the show went great last weekend! I ended up winning 2nd place in the Mopar category. Lost by 3 votes to a '68 Barracuda. Lots of people seemed interested in it, and were asking questions. Tomorrow I'll get some photos posted of it looking good!
