Default 2000 or 2001?

Date of manufacture: 01/2000.
Listed on title as a 2001.
When I try to purchase some parts I
often have to say model year 2000 for correct parts.
Can a truck built in 01/2000 be properly titled as a 2001?

Model years have crept forward for decades. According to Ford, there was no 1964 1/2 Mustang. The true '65 was substantially different mechanically but they were all 1965 models. Packard didn't even go by model years but went by series. Back in the 1980's, on January 1st of one year I saw an ad for the next year models.

Do a vin search, That will tell you the year. One of the digits in the vin represents what year it is.
