Default 5.9 rebuild question

I've been overhauling my 5.9, new heads, rockers, cam, lifters, all bearings, pistons, rods, timing assembly, oil pump, etc.

I purchased a mild comp cam, and enginequest heads. The comp cam recommended particular valve springs to go along with it. I purchased them, and went to install them on the new EQ heads. They don't fit either the new heads or the stock heads, which leads me to ask: given that they are new heads, with new valve springs, do I even need to replace them? Again, the comp cam is very mild. If I do still need to, does anyone have good recommendations on some valve springs that will actually fit?

Cam part number: CCA-20-745-9
Springs: CCA-901-16

Don't even mess around asking here. Go to Comp, give them a call. Without a lot more data all you will get here is speculation. Comp will ask all the right questions, sort you out straight away. You already paid for a new set, get the right ones. What they do for a living and they have likely seen this problem a few times already.
Good luck, you'll get it sorted out.

Question for you. What did you choose for lifters? What do you think of the heads? Was price reasonable?
Have a 1500 4x4 needs some work.

Given that I haven't installed them on the engine yet to try them out, I can't really give a good answer. At face value the heads look good, and from what I've read and heard they should be, but I really can't tell you yet for sure. The lifters, I actually went stock. According to what others have said, you can run stock lifters and pushrods with this cam. I may regret that, who knows. But we'll see.

Thank you.
Stock lifters ok, I'm sure. I only ask because I bought some replacements from Melling for a V10, same as smaller Magnum. Had only problems right away. Valvetrain would not quiet down. My rebuild machinist said I needed to run 5W-30 instead of the 15W-40 I always did before.
Much better, but still. The oil feed hole for the Melling is about 50% smaller than stock and oriented up/down instead of forward into the oil galley. Not the only valvetrain problem by any means and still not happy.

Gotcha, good to know. Are there any other issues you've had that I should be aware of now? I'd rather know upfront haha

My problems now are all V10 specific, related to milling heads, changing to stainless valves and pushrod lengths.
As far as 5.9/5.2, not really. Make sure you torque the oil pump back correctly. The dead truck I bought cheap looks like somebody tried to change the oil pan gasket in the truck without lifting the engine. Took the pump off to get the pan out, then didn't properly refasten it. Pump fell off into the pan, engine seized.
Go to all that trouble for an engine, make sure your injectors are good. I learned the hard way years ago.
Good luck.

Wow, yeah I'm trying to be more thorough than that haha. Thanks for the tip though, I'll bear that in mind.

EngineQuest supposedly are really good heads for a street mod build. Along with either an Edelbrock air gap or the hughes if you stay with the MPFI route...I am getting ready to pull my 5.9 and do the same thing....send pics if you have them. would love to see the build.....I ak going to go with Trickflow heads and the Edelbrock air gap with a Holly Eliminator EFI...thats the plan anyway....
