Ok, this truck is going to be saved. I went out this weekend with a cordless tire inflator and the one tire that goes flat after 3 days took air after sitting there for 4 yrs. I have been soaking the broken bolt with penetrating lube once a week.

Over the years, I've revived many a vehicle that sat and was going to be broken apart. I had one truck that needed a rear end but once it was on the road, I drove it for nearly 20 years and it was close to 400K on the clock when I sold it after the frame broke. The guy who bought it welded the frame back and kept driving it. My current daily driver was like that a year ago and I drive it every day.

Not sure how the video relates to the post. My yard is full of carnage from trucks i thought deserved to be saved (all of them). Usually end up parting out because no body wants to buy em anyway. I like to learn and explore so i pick my challenges based on what i do and do not know and want to learn. I have not rebuilt a diff on my own since graduating tech school, its still something I want to tackle but there's nothing top priority on my list to do it on. I wanted to 3.92 swap my 98 1500 but i think ill end up just buying 3rd gen axles to gain disc brakes. I know that guy in the video has the best battery and electrical system in history to have a 4 year old battery have enough power to crank a stale motor. I'm also curious why the shift light came on in and automatic truck at key cycle. All my 98 plus trucks I've ever driven, even the manual ones never lit up ever lol. I see this truck in commercial and if you will make good mockup https://www.speakrj.com/how-televisi...-from-mockups/ than it will be sold quickly)
Yeah, I wasn’t sure how the video tied in either, but I totally get where you’re coming from. Sounds like you’ve got a real yard of forgotten potential out there—I’m the same way. I keep dragging home rigs thinking I’ll save ’em, but most end up donors for someone else’s dream. Props for staying curious though; tackling stuff because you want to learn is the best mindset.

That 3.92 swap sounds like a solid idea, but I agree—going to 3rd gen axles for the disc brakes is probably the smarter play. As for that battery... either it’s magic or we didn’t get the full story. And yeah, the shift light thing is weird. I’ve had a few 98+ Rams too, and I’ve never seen that light come on in any of them, manual or auto. Makes you wonder if there’s a cluster swap or some odd wiring going on in that truck.

I should make a follow up video, that was just a quick will it start vid. I had a jump pack on it. Point of the vid was even after 4 yrs of sitting it still wanted to run, even at 20F. As you can see in those couple pics its in good shape for the miles. I decided to save it instead of ripping it apart.
