Default I have a problem with my truck.

Well...this just happened to me and I dont know why...my gas gauge is going left and right like a yoyo so right now I dont know how much gas I have in my truck and I was wondering if anyone has this problem and what they did? I was thinking it was the condensor or w.e in the gas tank. Also for those who are interested, the fault codes are 12 31 55. I read up on the codes but I dont know exactly on how to go on fixing it.

I have this problem, and it is my fuel sender that is inside the gas tank, I have no problems with the fuel pump just the sender. I dont get any codes though, I just use my odometer to know when to gas up again, usually at 200 to be safe. there is a thread about dropping the tank and changing the fuel pump somewhere, some removed the truck bed instead to access the pump.

yeah thats what I'm using right now to see when to fuel up...my dad said we would have to fix the thing inside the gas tank but i just bought the truck and its used...and i have no book so i dont know how big the tank is. It's a 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 v8 (5.2)

Also, so at 200 miles you would gas up?

Your avatar picture looks like you have a short bed. If so ... you have a 26G tank. You should easily be able to stretch it to 250 between fill-ups but to be safe ... stick with 200. I usually go 290-300 before I get a low gas light ... that's when I fill up.
