Default EGR non-egr

I know this is exhaust gas recirculation but how do I know if I need to have it when I get a new intake manifold? I know it has something to do with emissions so if it helps ya'll to help me, I do live in Texas.
Thanks

this is a 1/2 of an answer. the early models 94 - ?? had and EGR valve in the intake manifold. The later models ?? - 01 did not. I don't know what year was the cutoff.

95 or older is OBDI and is egr
96 andnewer is OBDII and non egr

If your getting an M1/2BBL intake manifold lot of us prefer the egr version cause of the threaded hole below the tb in the opening to the runners. Easier to install a turtle to help divert airflow.
