Default Bad Vibrations While Driving

I'm having a problem with my truck. Here's the info: '99 1500, QCSB, 4x4, 5.2L, Automatic. When I start to go from a stop, the entire truck starts vibrating pretty badly. I can feel it.I can look out my back window and see the bed shaking. The truck still goes fine, as in, I don't notice any loss in power (it's a dog anyway). The check engine light is also on. Any suggestions? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

it is possible. while the u joint isnt monitored, the vibration your talking about could off a sensor that is sensitive to vibration.

Ok, so how do I make sure it is the U-Joint? Is there some sort of procedure? I've heard on this forum before that if I jack the front end up, and try to wiggle the tires, if they wiggle, then the U-Joints are bad. Is this the correct way to check a U-Joint? Now, if I determine that it is the U-Joint, how expensive are they, and is this something a very average mechanical person can do, or should I send it to the shop? Also, I assume they are replaced in pairs? Thanks the for the help.

jack up the rear end . put jack stands under the axle "safety" that takes the load of the drive shaft and see if u can move it at all.. ujoints are cheap and u can do it your self.... as far as the check engine lite. u can do a key on key off like 4 times should pop a code up some where on the dash..sorry it slips my mind right now where at... but if you see it post it ..
