20dodge01 has a 5 speed with a hypertech and i believe i heard he likes it. I have the hypertech on my ram and i'm loving to so far (installed it easter). It will beniffit you since i don't think it does anything to the transmission for our trucks, atleast it didn't ask me if i wanted to change the shift pionts or firrmness...correct me if i'm wrong..

When I installed the Hypertech in my 01 it did not have the function of modifying shift points in the tranny. I removed the Hypertech programming and am selling it only because I have too many mods for it to work properly. Getting the B&G custom flash.

So in answer to your question, I do not believe it matters whether you have an auto or stick. The Hypertech for my 01 only affected the engine performance and speedometer for tire size.

OK, if I did this right, my post should include Hypertech's stats for a 2001 5.2L. Installed mine months ago, like it alot.

The programmers can't change the shift points (except for OD maybe) because even in the RE series of trannys ... 1-2 and 2-3 are still hydraulically commanded. The PCM doesn't play a role. The 45RFE was the first fully electronically shifted tranny ... available in the 3rd Gens.

The programmers do not do anything for shift points on these trucks because they are not controlled by the computer. That being the case you will get the same resultswhether you have an auto or manual. In my opinion you notice the biggest gain if your truck has the death flash since the programmer willeffectively remove it. If you don't you may not notice much at all if you run 87 octane. If you are willing and able to run 93 then there will bea bigger improvement.

Open the hood and it's the solver box attached to the firewall on the left side of the engine compartment. It'll have 3 separate 2" x 3/4" connectors.
