the groan seems like something gear/tranny/tc related not power but drivetrain and im hopeing its just the engine working harder to turn the new tires

since a couple weeks back i have gotten a new brush guard along w/ some lights and 33" toyo open country a/t tires which btw are amazing

Grabbing brakes is an indication of contaminated linings ... pull a drum ... you might find a leak (axle or wheel cylinder) ... or you might just find a bunch of dirt. At any rate ... spray everything down with brake cleaner (top to bottom) to wash off any crap (air dry) ... do inside the drums, too. See if it helps.

well on the way back from college the truck lost prly all of its power, this got progressivly worse threw check engine light and for cylinder misfires there was extreme backpressure in the exhaust causing it to have almost 0 power couldnt go above 55 on I94 so i took it to the nearest autozone for the code pulls the misfires, my guess was my cat melted for some reason.. it started probably friday on the way back from spring break i noticed engine load and less power got slightly worse today took its final dive, getting the cat cleaned up tommorow and hopefully it will run better.

pulled the front o2 and it was exhausting out the bunghole like mad i figured usually it would continue its normal path and only puff thru slightly but it was like a big difference it was PUFF PUFF PUFF and so i hit the cat and i can hear a chunk bouncing around in there so..

for the brakes im gonna take your advice and clean the shoes and drum next time i get in there but the cat is urgent fix so thats first on the line, i didnt see any leakage or anything abnormal in there.

What do you mean ... "getting the cat cleaned up"? You mean replaced, right?
