Default Plenum kit before cold air install?

I am almost certain i need to replace my plenum gasket, i am so sure that i ordered the kit from huges allready. I am drinking oil internally at a un acceptable rate, along with the pinging. But i have a volant cold air intake due to arrive in the mail in days. I have a gut feeling i should be doing the plenum before i install the cold air intake.

Or am i just beeing paranoid?

fix the problem first. then you can run the crap out of it when you put on the air intake.

When the beer barrel intake manifold is off during the plenum fix you have the opportunity to clean up the insides of the runners and then coat the inside and out of the aluminum manifold, including the plenum plate which picks up heat from oil splashed onto it.
You could have this done, or do it yourself:

Another common mod is to machine off some of the manifold to cylinder head flange so that two gaskets could be used, to further isolate the intake manifold from the heat of the cylinder head, and to gain a little more in both maximum oxygen content and detonation resistance.

This could potentially give you a 'real' improvement in air temperature getting to the cylinders, as opposed to CAI, which won't stand up to a real test.
