Transmission slip
I have a 1995 Ram 1500 4x2 318 auto 120,000 mi.
At first start up it seems not to want to pull itself, like the transmission is slipping. It takes it about 30 seconds before it acts like it's really in gear good and wants to move. This happens in drive and reverse, but only when the transmission is cold, and it's worse when the weather is cold. Fluid is full. There is also an occasional whine when in reverse, but again only when it's cold, and goes away after I give it a little warm up. It has done this for at least a year without getting worse, but makes me think that something is going wrong, but I'm not experiencing any other tranny troubles. What should I do?

Its probably the torque convertaing draining down, I beleive that there is a bad check vavle or something like that.
As for the whine in reverse, mine does that and every other one I have ever herd and reading some things that a tranny shop sells and they sell something that "gets rid of the noise" basically they said it was becasue of the design of something... so its normal.

If that's the case should I replace the torque converter or should I just give it a few seconds like I've been doing? It has been doing it for quite some time now, and really isn't getting any worse. Will it harm any other part of the tranny if I leave a bad TC in there?
"Automatic transmission: If the transmission will not engage when first started, chances are the torque converter is draining down. A check valve in the fluid line leading to the transmission cooler will fix the problem. (1994) "
Thats what I was refering too, it says 1994 but maybe its the same problem, someone else will have to help you from here.
