Default Small oil leak on back of engine??

I noticed my truck (96 Ram 1500 4x4 5.9) leaving a small quarter size drop of oil on the ground.. I can see from under it that their is a film of oil coming from the top/back areaof the engine..I can see where it is running down from what looks like (can't really see that area from below or the top)the rearintake gasket area..The valve cover gasketsare good..

1..Can you have a bad intake gasket but good phlenum??

2..Is their anything else back there that would leak oil??

3..I want to check all things before I take it to the dealer (very limited warranty)..To make sure they just don'treplace a bunch of stuff for no reason trying to fix it several times when it could be something I could do myself and be sure the problem is fixed,,,,,Thanks

My boss had a 1997 4.8L Ford that leaked a little oil at the rear main seal.

Been doing some reading and what oil pressure psiis normal...I get a little above 40psi when I start it and running but after warmed up the pressure drops down between the white line and 40 and fluccuates betweentheir and 40psi ..I was reading on here that when the oil sensor starts going bad the gauge jumps around and it starts leaking...Is this true??????

yes. the plenum (belly pan) gasket is on the bottom of the intake. it seperates the bottom of the intake (air area) from the lifter valley (oil area). then intake has gaskets between intake and heads, and then it has rubber gaskets between front/rear intake and block. the most likely place to leak is at those corners. you might try cleaning it good with a degreaser and smearing rtv all over the corners and across the back side of the intake.

2..Is their anything else back there that would leak oil??
maybe. the oil sending unit screws into the block just to the passenger side of the distributor.
