Default Max Tire Size

I need to replace the tires in my 01 Ram Sport Offroad. The tires that are on there are P265/70/17. It is supposed to have P275/70/17. I am thinking of installing either P285/70/17 or if they would fit P315/70/17 on stock alum rims. If I want to put the 315's on would I need a lift or could I put them on with a 2" leveling kit on the front end?

I put 35x12.50x17's on mine without any lift and barely rubbed when full turn, but that is on the control arms. So 315/70/17's should fit with minimal problems.
