There are two latch tabs inside the garage door opener compartment. Push both tabs forward to unlatch. them, the gently pull the console rearward to release it from the ceiling.

Simply unplug the wire harness and you're good to go!

I have a 98 .... I don't have the garage door opener thing. It just looks like a compass and a thermometer.

How about pulling the headliner down though. How do you do that?

The headliner is fairly easy to remove too.

Download the link in this thread for a complete service manual with all the steps. https://dodgeforum.com/m_340929/tm.htm

After you have downloaded the manual, look in the BODY chapter, INTERIOR section, "headliner removal"

Its actually not difficult at all. That manual would have helped, i wish i woulda double checked on this website before going ***** deep into this project. The hardest thing for me was that stupid overhead compass, two screws in the front, and in there rear there are twoclips that hold it up and are VERY DELICATE, and the need to be removed at an angle. Other than that pretty much just pull or unscrew everything that hold it up and she'll come right out----once its down and seeing that you have afour-doorgetting itout of your truck will be easy for you.
