Default Shift kit question

How do shift kits affect towing? I'm thinking about putting one in my old jeep, BUT, when we need some serious towing power (think tractors axle deep in river mud) we use it. If it decides to run.

Default RE: Shift kit question

I had a shift kit installed in my truck about a year ago. I tow a pop-up camper (2100 pounds) and have made two coal runs using my dad's dump trailer (7000 - 8000 pounds). The truck runs great and shifts well. The shift kit is going to increase the speed of the shift. This reduces slippage and heat build-up in the tranny.

As long as you're not ripping and tearing when trying to tow or pull the tractors out of the mud, you shouldn't have any problems.

Cool.Does the kind of shift kit have any effect? I don't need a racing kit, the big block and 850 carb just needs a break from the low gearing
