Viper rocker installation
I'm considering installing the Viper rockers on my Ram and I'm lookng for insight. I've searched and read through all of the threads that came up, and I already know the advantages of doing this mod. I've found them on makeitmopar.com for $4.88 each, so the price is quite attractive. I've never done anything like this before, and I'm looking for a step-by-step guide for installation if it's out there. I considered the roller rockers, but they just cost too dang much. I've also considered a new cam, but I'm afraid I'd be in way over my head with that one. I'll also need a list of tools required so that I can be sure to acquire anything I don't already have. Thanks in advance.

Here are the instructions
Removal
1. detach the valve covers from the cylinder heads.
2. Loosen the rocker arm pivot bolts one at a time and detach the rocker arms, bolts, pivots and retainer/guide plate. Keep track of the rocker components to ensure that they're reinstalled in their original locations.
Inspect your pushrods for cracks excessive wear and see if they're bent
Installation
1. Lubricate the lower end of each pushrod with engine oil, and seat them completely in the lifler socket.
2. lube the pivot faces, valve stems and pushrod ends.
3. install rockers and bolts (do not tighten the bolts)
4. The rocker arms must be tightened at a "neutral" position in the engine's rotation, to prevent valve to piston clearance problems. Turn the engine until the "V8" marks line up before tightening the rocker arms.
5. Tighten the rocker arms to 17 ft-lbs (It is 21 for V10's, but I guess you go with 17)
6. reinstall valve covers
7. Allow at least five min. for the hydraulic lifters to "bleed down" before turning the engine or starting it.

Ok. I understand everything except for "Turn the engine until the "V8" marks line up before tightening the rocker arms. "
I am looking in my Haynes manual for reference as well. Where are the "V-8" marks, and how should I turn the engine until they line up? The engine is still in the truck at this point, correct?
Forgive my ignorance. I am learning, but I am not there yet. Thank you for your help.

Just take the old ones off and put the new ones on. Then disable the coil (take the ignition wire off) and crank it for 10 revs or so. You really don't have to do that, but if any bleeding of the lifters has to be done that'll do it.It's just a safeguard more than anything else. You'll be going from the stock lift of .432 to a gross lift of.459. You will have no clearance issues. You should, however, reset your pcm. You will go from ~ 18-20 in/hg to around 15-17 in/hg @ idle.
