Can Anyone help me out here?
I know this isn't a Dodge question, but my father has a 2001 F-150 with the Triton 5.4L in it. Its got about 106,000 on it and he just came home and said the trans is slipping. When driving the truck, it starts out fine, goes through first and second, but usually when it hits third, it revs up alot. Almost feels like a slipping clutch, but its an automatic. It doesnt feel like its shifting right at that point. I was thinking that possibly it could be a shift sensor of some sort. I was hoping maybe someone here would have some kinda of knowledge of the Fords. Thanks for any help guys!
I would change the fluid and check the level as well as adjust the bands. If that doesn't help you might want to have a more qualified mechanic check it out. A slip in anautomatic trasmission could be putting a lot of excess heat and wear on it leading to a failure and big repair bills, especially if it is because of a low fluid level.
