Test Drive report
so today me and a budy went to gander at a boat we are gonna go in on .. driving there we past a dealership that ive been eyeing a ram for a while now..
ive been toying with the idea of upgrading to a 2gen quadcab 2500,, mainly b.c my reg. cab doesnt have any room .. and well the 2500 would be nice..
the truck => 2001 2500 quad cab short box 4X4 autoV10. sport black.80K asking price 11,995
- from what i could gander from looking under the hood, it had a poweraid TB spacer (some people just dont learn) and k&n filter and a flowermaster with corner exhaust. took it for a spin. the 35's rubed HARD on the control arms, (had a 4 .. maybe a 5 inch lift) when i got far enough way from the dealership, i goosed on it as hard as i could and this pig wouldnt get out of its own way. this thing was a dog.. comepletley lacking any kind of power. couldnt break the tires, could barley get up to speed to pass anything on the road. the shifter was really stickey and the tranny just shifted whenever it wanted to... very speratic, the body was in really good condition, was in an accident b/c the bumper was sitting odd and had some orange peel on it..
as we pulled back in a flatbed showed up with another ram.. really cought my eye.
=> 1999 2500 5.9 quad cab short bed laramie 4X4 autowhite/grey two tone 60K asking 13,900 .. (tried to take it to auction b.c it was highley modified)
this thing was GORGEOUS!!! atleast a 6" skyjacker lift, dual front shocks/steering stabalizer, laddarbars in the rear, blocks/AAL 35" intercos on centerlines, arb rear/frontlockers, and to my surprise she had a kenne bell under the hood,,, i poped the hood and almost poped my pants. polished charger, eddy heads, headers, race ignition, .. this thing was built. unsure of any serious motor work (ie: cam or punching) but i couldnt wait to get in this thing ... jumped in.. didnt want to start.. finally got it to fire up and let it sit and warm up.. got it out on the road and this thing was worse then the V10,, it felt like a 6 cyl. boost got up to 15lbs (from was i could see on the guage ) but it didnt want to move at all.. drove like grabage.. didnt want to track, really bad wobble/hop .. the saleman told me they just spent 1300 to get the charger and everything tuned up.. i think he was pulling my leg b/c this pile need some serious tuning
i had my good buddy with me and another guy stoped by .. both of them drive both trucks.. and both of these guys have driven my truck.. all 3 of us could honestly swear on the bible that my ram blows these two things out of the water...
any thoughts? im seriously ruled out the charged 99, but the V10 still spinning in the back of my head.. i did see that the V10 had the "reflash/death sticker" on it..
